“Toras Chaim at JDBY”
by Elisheva Kaganoff

At Joan Dachs Bais Yaakov, learning is exciting, meaningful and memorable. Our talented Moros and teachers engage their students in activities, projects, and performances that bring learning to life. Interactive lessons include centers, SMARTboards, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, playing games, etc. Our 1st graders recently celebrated beginning their learning of Chumash with a heart-warming performance. Our 2nd graders put on a spectacular Chanukah play and an enjoyable Purim play. Our 3rd graders acted out Parshas Toldos and Parshas Vayeitzei through drama, song and dance. Our 4th graders prepared posters depicting all the Parshios of Sefer Breishis, made a Navi slideshow, and will create a makkos carnival when they finish Parshas Bo, אי”ה. Our 5th graders create their own motions and songs for yedios in Chumash and Rashi, and run the Rosh Chodesh activities every month for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. Our 6th graders are scrapbooking many of their Limudim and have a “hands-on” approach to the study of the 39 melachos of Shabbos. Our 7th graders will be doing a creative limud of Birchas Hamazon and will share their knowledge by “teaching” younger grades. Our 8th graders head all of the committees and run all of the extra-curricular activities for the school. JDBY is bursting with activity and excitement, making learning a truly enjoyable experience for all students.
