At Joan Dachs Bais Yaakov, we infuse תורת חיים in everything we do. The לימודים are internalized and eternalized by using a multi-sensory approach. At the end of the year, every grade level participates in a culminating activity or presentation that highlights a specific לימוד or offers a cumulative review in a creative way.
One such presentation was made by our 3rd graders. The year-long לימוד of תפלת שמונה עשרה was indelibly etched in the girls’ hearts as they sang and explained each of the ברכות in a memorable performance. The girls also proudly displayed posters that artistically and creatively depicted each of the ברכות of the שמונה עשרה.
The mothers who attended the moving performance were brought to tears by the heartfelt sincerity of their daughters and the knowledge that these girls are well on their way to becoming the נשי חיל of the next generation.
In addition, in April, the fourth grades presented their State Fair. Each girl introduced her state and identified its nickname. A wonderful slideshow was made in computer class. Each girl created her own slide and presented important factual information she received after contacting state agencies in specific states. Many girls dressed in costume representing their state. Classes and visitors toured the posters, received many “gift” items such as state flags, and participated in word searches and guessing games related to the specific state. This was a wonderful learning experience for the 4th graders and for all the students and guests who viewed the presentation.
