chidon4  chidon1 Jacob Miller – Winner of International Diaspora Chidon HaTanach
Mazal Tov to our 8th grader, Jacob Miller, on winning first place in the International Diaspora Chidon HaTanach which took place in Afula, Israel on Monday, May 9th!
Throughout the school, fellow classmates and teachers were all watching the Chidon livestreamed from Israel – cheering for Jacob and writing in encouraging comments on the live blog. There was so much excitement in the air! When he was presented as the winner, the crowd both in Afula and in Hillel Torah erupted with cheering and chanting Jacob’s name! Jacob had been preparing the entire year for the Chidon competition and we are so proud of him for this huge accomplishment! Jacob was one of the North American Chidon HaTanach winners last year – which earned him a spot in the International Chidon HaTanach this year, where he was one of seventy students competing. Prior to today’s Chidon, Jacob, together with the other candidates, participated in a Chidon Camp where they met with Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, and other dignitaries and toured Israel. Watch the contest again here. chidon2  chidon5 Nathan Shapiro – 2nd Place Winner of Chidon HaTanach National Finals
